Exhibitor Showcase: Eliminating the Ostrich Syndrome: Proactive Risk Management and Corporate Transparency
Wednesday, November 02 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Room: East Hall
Speaker: Heidi Tillquist, Director, Oil and Gas Risk Management, Stantec
Risk for oil and gas facilities include the possibility of failures resulting in environmental damage, which can result in significant loss of corporate value and reputation. Historically, risk quantification was associated with physical integrity and time-to-failure analyses. This emphasis is changing in the wake of highly publicized accidents that have increasingly focused regulators and the public on the impacts to the environment well beyond the boundaries of the oil and gas facilities. We will discuss some of Stantec’s new and existing products that use big data, risk analytics, and Geographic Information Systems to evaluate and monitors risk on an enterprise-level.
Exhibitor Showcase: Live Demonstration – Oil Detection Dogs for Shoreline and Pipeline Surveys
Thursday, November 03 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Room: East Hall
Paul Bunker - K2 Solutions
Ed Owens - Owens Coastal Consultants
Canine detection teams have demonstrated the capability to rapidly locate subsurface oil targets up to 36" deep on a consistent and reliable basis. This session will include a presentation summarizing the API field tests, real spill experience in Canada, and a live demonstration in which one of the trained dogs will be provided with the opportunity to locate an oiled sediment target within an array. Detection teams can be used in a range of environmental settings for pipeline and shoreline surveys that include rough terrain, dense undergrowth, river banks, snow and ice.
